Assisted this teaching hospital with an assessment of operational processes utilized to identify and report available bed days for optimization of Medicare Indirect Medical Education reimbursement.

Produced 2003 operating revenue budget. Created comprehensive model containing detailed rate and volume assumptions. This model was designed to easily enable comparison of actual to budgeted information on a monthly basis.

In addition, assisted in the completion and supervised staff with regard to completion of the 2002 New York State and Medicare cost reports. Provide ongoing training and development of reimbursement staff relative to the history and current New York State Medicaid Hospital Reimbursement rates and systems.

Served as Interim Directors of Reimbursement and Financial Planning at this community hospital in Westchester County. This project included building detailed financial planning models to accommodate annual operating budgets for FY 2002 and 2003. In addition, created incremental profitability analyses on multiple programs as directed by the CFO. Initiated Medicare and Medicaid appeals which provided over $2 million in one-time incremental revenue and approximately $500,000 per year in on-going income.

Served as Interim Chief Financial Officer at this community hospital in New York City for a five-month period. Subsequently, prepared Medicare final settlement appeals for 1998 and 1999. Created monitoring tools for use during implementation of turnaround plan.
